Study of qualitative-interpretative nature which purpose is the physical violence against women and its ímplications in mental health. The violences are big worries to publicai health due its mu lí í pies determinations and several consequences. We adopted so, as general objective: to feature the socio-cultural conceptions and meanings of experiences in women raped physically by men which ones they have affective-erotical-sexual bond and its ímplications of this violence to the mental health; and as specífícal: to learn the meaning of experience lived by women victims of physical violence; to comprehend in which measure the socio-cultural aspects are implicated in the relation and reaction of victims of physical violence. To identify and relate behaviors and feelings of victims with the rising of psychic suffering and sickening. The theory to be defended is this: the meaning of physical violence to the women with affective-erotical-sexual bond with the aggressor, in a municipal of medium- size of Northeastern Region, is modelled by the culture, that keeps the patriarcal System; this, for your turn, contributes to the naturalization of gender’s culture, imputing the gender’s violence, that provokes mental and physical injuries, responsibles to psychic suffering and sickening. The city of Sobral, sited in Ceará’s State, was the scenario of the research. In the department of women’s defence and in community, with the help of communitary agents of health we identified and approached thirty women that suffered physical violence, which aggressors had with the victims affective-erotical-sexual bond, criteria of inclusion of this study. From thirty women, seventeen took part effectively as subjects of this study. March/200.1 to December/2003 totalized the research period. Interview semi-structured was the main tool to collect informations, fíeld diary contributed to deepening of some fmdings. The metodological theoretical Option had as basis the interpretation of systematized culture by Clifford Geertz and Speech of Collective Subject proposed by Lefèvre, Lefèvre and Teixeira. Women with few years of study, income between one and two salaries, several children made the most studied. Numbers of aggressions suffered and time of living with the aggressor are very high, but didnff have correlation with the local and people sought to help. From the speeches, carne up seven methodological figures: painful bodies, traces and consequences of victims, reactions and behavior of victims, feelings and wishes of victims, context and facts of physical violence, meanings and forrns of physical violence, the body suffers, the nerve speaks out, behavior that marks the agressor. This weave of meanings revealed that the violent relationship is based upon some determinant and context that relies on social, economical determinants, but the cultural aspects highlight. The women revealed several ways of suffering and a process of silent and continuous sickening, suggesting that the convivance with the aggressor provokes tension-stress makers, by your turn, health threatening effects. They are experiencing deep psychical suffering, with real possibilities of mental sickening. Key-words: Physical violence,
