In translation/interpretation research, involving Libras and Portuguese, published in monographs, theses and dissertations, the translation into Libras is usually in its signaled/oral mode. Escrita de Língua de Sinais (ELS) or simply Escrita de Sinais (ES), using the Sutton SignWriting (SW) system, created by Valerie Sutton in 1974, It is one of the most viable possibilities when it comes to translation itself, that is, written text for another in the same modality. There is still much lack of published material written in Libras and of analysis of the translation process involving this modality as final product. In this work, we intend to reflect on the translation process, evidencing translation procedures (BARBOSA, [1990] 2004; AUBERT, 1998) for oral/auditory and gestural/visual language pairs, by means of an annotated translation, of the biblical text of the "I Epistle of John" for the Libras, in the modality written by the SW system, using as source texts some versions of the Bible in Portuguese, in addition to comparing them with others in Spanish, English and Greek (koiné) accessible on websites, also using online dictionaries and the "Translate" tool in the SignPuddle program (http://www.signbank.org). org / signpuddle /), in addition to consulting with fellow translators and interpreters of Libras/Portuguese language and deaf people fluent in. We also aim to justify the choice of the SW system for the translation, to confirm the need for writing for Libras as a registry and enrichment tool and to point out the functionalities and limitations of the translation and editing tools in the SignPuddle program. |
