Resumo: The relevance of this research is based on the need and importance of studies that present a better understanding of the submerged geological environments that gave rise to the study area and, due to the lack of methods and parameters that effectively characterize the geodiversity in marine environments, to generate subsidies That originate new ways of analyzing the submerged coastal environments so that society can enjoy the geological heritage as a whole and not only of its mineral resources aiming at its economic value. Another aspect of great importance in this study is the possibility of analysis and integration of data in a GIS environment, information acquired in previous surveys, databases and reports, found in research and teaching institutions, regulatory agencies and oil and gas prospecting companies. The application of this methodology will potentialize the knowledge about the oceanic environments and, more specifically, the geological processes that form and modify the marine environment. This way, this research will serve to guide future surveys and studies geodiversity in submerged areas. The aim of this research was to propose a methodology to characterize the geodiversity of marine environments that seeks alternatives for better planning and management of the natural and transformed aspects located in the coastal and marine zone of the municipality of Icapuí. This practice was based on studies of geodiversity, where the geological, geomorphological and sedimentary processes were identified as well as the economic valuation of the marine mineral resources, environmental, social and cultural characteristics of the studied area.
