Resumo: The intercropping of yearly agricultural cultures with forage plants is a technology that allows the verticalization of production, being capable of promote improvements to the soil physics, associated with the greatest volume of straw on the surface, as well as to provide larger productivity, consequently greater profit and larger sustainability of the productive system. This work had as objective to evaluate the intercropping of Brachiaria brizantha with corn for production of silage, in three types of sowing of the forage plant and two spacing between rows of corn, in addition to evaluate the energetic and operational performance of the set tractor-sower, identify possible changes in the soil physics attributes, as well as to verify the economic viability of the intercropping, the job was conducted in the experimental area of the Department of Agricultural Engineering of the University Federal of Ceara. It was used the randomized block design in a (3x2) + 2 factorial with four repetitions, totalizing 32 trial units. The treatments were composed for two spacing between rows of corn, 0.45 and 0.90 m and three types of sowing of forage plant, sown by launch in pre-seeding of the corn, in the row of seeding together with base fertilizer and sown by launch in post-seeding of the corn, besides of single corn in the two spacing, as control. It was evaluate the energetic and operational performance of the set tractor-sower, the agronomic/phytotechnyc of the corn and the economic viability of the intercropping. The results allowed conclude that the spacing of 0.45 m between rows provides better structuring of the soil with the increase of their porosity, better operational performance of the set tractor-sower, with less slipping of the wheeled of the sower and better longitudinal distribution of seeds in comparison to spacing of 0.90 m. The greatest index of profitability was obtained with the single corn spacing to 0.90 m.
