This dissertation analyzes the conditions of Brazil's beef exports to the 100 trading partners responsible for 94.10% of imports between 1998 and 2014. The methodology was explored using the gravity model approach, using Pooled Least Squares, Fixed Effects, Random Effects and Poisson Pseudo-Maximum-Likelihood (PPML) methods. The dependent variable analyzed was the value of beef exports from Brazil, in millions of dollars, while the explanatory variables considered were income, geographic distance, exchange rate, international price, business freedom index, contiguity and common official language. The results indicate that destination market income and the exchange rate have a positive effect on exports, while distance and international prices have a negative effect. It should be noted that the PPML method was the most appropriate for the type of work performed. |
