Resumo: This thesis aims to understand the acting strategies of an intellectual generation that engaged a process of cultural institutionalization in Ceará realized from 1930 to 1950. This process took shape in the creation of important mediating institutions of the symbolic production represented in the 1950’s by the University of Ceará and in the 1960’s by the Secretary of Culture of the State of Ceará, both projects developed by the constitution of a corpus of agents wiling to the intellectual and political activity, responsible, thereby, for the expansion and thickening of the acting space of “the men of letters” of the state. This research includes projects of publishing in vogue from the end of 1930’s to the beginning of 1950’s in the condition of shapers of a social space of intellectual circulation by becoming instances of viabilization of written word and aesthetic consecration, whilst they conferred visibility to the artworks and positionings and distributed the symbolic capitals legitimized in the environment. The experiences of Editora Fortaleza from its periodic VALOR (1938-1947) and, later, of CLÃ group from its homonym magazine (1946-1988) are here taken as instrumentalizing of the placement of aesthetic ideas and positionings which intended the success of certain agents aiming the intellectual intervention in the cultural field. Whilst VALOR meant the first incursion of a new generation of writers in the intellectual field, allowing its exhibition next to already consolidated figures, the following experience in the CLÃ magazine succeeded as the longest publication of the type in the history of the letters of Ceará, leaving to its stakeholders the best honours available on the field, either in the recognition by cultural institutions (academys, societys, etc.), or by the positions conquered on the State (superior scholarship and secretaries of government). Guided by the theory of fields of Bourdieu in its perspective of analyses of the process of autonomization of social space, this research worked with bibliographic materials, archived fonts and intellectual trajectories aiming to build the arrangement of the agents and properties the configured the intellectual field of Ceará in this period.
