Resumo: |
During the Winter of 1992 research was done concerning the behavior of the saúva of northeast, Atta opaciceps Borgmeier, 1939 (Hymenoptera:Formicidae); this study was developed in an area of 5 ha at the Campus do Piei (Federal University of Ceara) with the objective to continue the sequence of the seasonal surveys which are carried on in order to domesticate the above mentioned insect. These studies confirmed the three types of behavior observed during the seasons of Summer and Fall. It was verified, by "discreet temporal series" and by "cross correlation's", that the saúva of northeast workers search after food for storage both photophase and escotophase. In addition, the "discreet temporal series" revealed that this search for food is directly and positively related with lower temperature and with the period of night-darkness. Also it was observed in the second month of the season in study (August) there is a positive correlation between searching activity and nebulosity mesologic parameter, specifically in escotophase. Throughout the season under study, the searching activity of the saúva of northeast, Atta opaciceps Borgmeier, 1939, during escotophase was 3,3 times superior to their activity found in photophase. In general, the saúva of northeast is 1,81 times more active in W'mter than in Summer, and 1,32 times less active during Fall. |
