Resumo: This research was carried out with the aim of studying the hydraulic and mechanical behavior of mixtures between soils and high levels of asphalt emulsion, the results of which for example in the execution of works on dams. The methodology employed the collection and characterization of a sandy soil by means of laboratory; in the compaction of the mixtures using different with emulsion contents ranging from 13% to 28%; the performance of variable load permeability for the identification of the variables influencing the hydraulic behavior of the studied mixtures; the performance of shear tests directly to analyze the behavior of the shear strength parameters of the soil-emulsion mixtures; and the analysis of flow and slope stability. The The results showed that the addition of asphalt emulsion in the soil contributed to the of the permeability coefficient of the soil-emulsion mixtures in relation to the soil sample compacted and that for high asphalt emulsion contents the values of the coefficients of permeability of all specimens analyzed converged to 10-8 m / s. The The results obtained in the shear strength tests showed that the addition of Asphalt emulsion has contributed to the reduction of the internal friction angle and to the cohesion of the soil-emulsion mixtures, considering the low loading levels. The analyses flow and stability of slopes performed indicated that flows and gradients maximum values obtained in the flow analyzes of the homogeneous dams constituted by the soil-emulsion were lower than the values obtained in the homogeneous dams sandy soil, and the analyzes made in the slopes homogeneous dams formed by the mixtures between the soil and the asphalt emulsion presented a lower slope than those for the homogeneous dams formed by sandy soil, in order to required. For the zoned dams formed with soil-emulsion, the evaluation of the flow conditions and stability of the slopes showed a similar to that obtained considering the nuclei formed by clayey soils. In general, the results obtained in the tests were satisfactory, since it was observed that there was stabilization of the soil, characterized by the decrease of the permeability coefficient of the and emulsion in relation to compacted soil samples and by the behavioral changes of the properties of shear strength.
