The aim of the research was to analyze the librarian's mediation in the educational context of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI) within the library of the Teresina Dirceu Arcoverde Advanced Campus. In this sense, the following specific objectives were articulated: to identify the mediation practices of the Campus library; to understand the actions developed by the librarian with regard to cultural, reading and information mediation; to know the identity profile of the students, taking the second and third modules of the subsequent technical courses in Administration and Logistics and to identify the students' perception of the Campus school library from the mediation practices of information, reading and culture. The bibliographic research outlined the theoretical foundations to explain the themes and reflections that permeate the school library, the mediation in the school library and the educational universe of IFPI for the apprehension of the context under analysis and interaction with the research subjects. The study was qualitative in nature, exploratory in nature, expressed through participant observation of the investigated phenomenon. As instruments of data collection, questionnaires were used with the librarians and the students of the campus to articulate the proposed objectives. From these directions, we conclude that in any and all mediational actions, both the librarian and the school staff, managers and students need to be integrated and interacting in dialogical actions to understand the educational function of the school library and improve the performance of the activities and services promoted in its ambience, in order to enable the symbolic interactionism between the informational devices and the reading and cultural practices of the members of the school community. |
