Resumo: Study the effect of water depths, levels of organic compost on productivity and profitability of a carrot crop (Daucus carota L), was the main objective of this study, which was conducted between August and November 2011, in the municipality of Guaraciaba do Norte-Ce. The experimental design was randomized blocks with split plots and four replications, with blades of localized irrigation in the plots and the doses of the subplot organic compost. The irrigation levels (L1, L2,L3,L4 and L5), primary treatment , corresponded to 50, 75 , 100 , 125 and 150 % of the daily pan evaporation Class "A" (ECA, mm) , and the doses of compost (C1,C2,C4 e C3),secondary treatment, corresponded to 0, 20, 40 e 80t.ha-1. Variables analyzed: Commercial Yield, productivity of water use efficiency of the organic compost, and product profitability indicators marginal physical. The irrigation system was used drip , and the culture of carrot (DaucuscarotaL.) cultivar Brasilia, the most cultivated in all producing areas of the North and Northeast of Brazil .Plants were harvested at 100 days after sowing, with a maximum commercial yield of 24,273.40 kg ha-1, was obtained in equivalent treatment replacement of the evaporation of class A and 40 tha-1 of organic compound. The quadratic model showed highly significant effect for both the factor of production water, and for the factor of production organic compost. Regarding water productivity observed an increase in mean productivity of water with increasing doses of organic compost, up to 40 t ha-1, a decrease occurring with values above this. Values of the efficiency of use of organic compost for C2, C4 e C3 treatments are 135.12, 100.84 and 19.27 kilograms, respectively, of carrots per tonne of compost applied. Analyzing the profitability ratios observed for the factor of production water greater profitability when we use a blade irrigation corresponding to 100 % of ECA, where we observe an IRR of 84.32 % and a B / C of 1.843 ; when analyzing the indicators for the factor of production organic compost observed a higher profitability for the control treatment, a fact related to the high cost of organic compound which was acquired for R$100.00 per tonne, considerably reducing the cost of producing this treatment.
