In urban centers, green spaces are essential elements to minimize the problems arising from urbanization. One of these spaces is the Relevant Area Economic Interest (ARIE) of Cambeba, a state protected area newly created located in the city of Fortaleza (CE) and which will undergo a process of revitalization, allowing its use by the population. As the valuation technique environment an important instrument for the evaluation and execution of public policies environmental factors, the Contingent Valuation Method was applied in the unit to estimate the economic value of the place, also seeking to analyze the socioeconomic profile of the future visitors. It was found that the income variable is statistically significant in the decision to be willing to pay, with an inverse relationship. Only 35.87% of the respondents were willing to pay a preservation fee, obtaining a willingness to pay an average of R$ 4.97 per person, which results in an annual value of BRL 21,756.11 for the location. The research also played an important role in informing the population about the existence of the Cambeba ARIE and the revitalization project.
