Resumo: |
The research aimed to analyze from an economic perspective the response of papaya (Carica papaya L.) under organic cultivation to the factors of production of water and organic compost on a property with characteristics of family farming in the Brazilian semiarid region. The study was conducted from August 2019 to July 2020 in the first production cycle in an area belonging to Prece (Education Program in Cooperative Cells), located in the municipality of Pentecoste-CE. The cultivation of papaya Formosa, cultivar “Tainung 1”, was established in the field following the spacing of 2.5 x 2.5 m, with irrigation carried out by a localized micro-sprinkler system, with a daily watering shift. The design was in randomized blocks with plots subdivided into four replications, whose primary treatments consisted of four levels of irrigation corresponding to 60%, 80%, 100% and 120% of the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and the secondary treatments for four organic compound levels corresponding to 0%, 50%, 100% and 150% of the dose required by the culture. The results of the research allowed to obtain the following conclusions: The levels of production factors equivalent to the application of water and organic compost requirements allowed to achieve, in the first cycle of cultivation of organic papaya, a productivity similar to conventional cultivation; The productivity value of irrigation water related to the requirements of the production factors in the value of 4.51 R $ m-3 represents on average five times the reference value for the cultivation of papaya in conventional production system; Resistance to soil penetration in some subplots in the mean depth of the papaya root system came to compromise the productivity of the crop; The rural credit allows the irrigating farmer to reach the level of social reproduction with the cultivation of an area of papaya that is on average half of the area for the condition in which the financing does not occur. |
