Resumo: |
The chikungunya virus was initially isolated in Tanzania in 1952. In october2013, the first Chikungunya (CHIK) epidemic was recorded on the American continent. Between 2014 and 2018, 83,395 cases of CHIKwere confirmed, of which 80,878 (97.0%) were residents of Fortaleza. The disease is characterized mainly by the post-chikungunya rheumatic and musculoskeletal manifestations that range from the persistence of pain, to rheumatoid arthritis affecting about 5% of patients. The most common complaint is joint involvement, especially hands, wrists, ankles and feet, being disabling in most cases. Objective: To analyze the functional reach and functional impact and kinesiophobia of people registered as confirmed cases of CHIK living in the city of Fortaleza. Methodology: Cross-sectional, observational and analytical study. Data collection was carried out at home, between november 2018 and august 2019. The research was composed of individuals who had a laboratory diagnosis of CHIK, cases reported in 2018, in the city of Fortaleza. Peopleover 18 years old, both sexes, living in the city of Fortaleza were included. Those with cognitive deficits to answer the questions were excluded. The main outcomes assessed were the pattern of functional reach in this population, the functional impact on upper and lower limbs and the sociodemographic profile, through the Functional Reach (FR) and Lateral Reach (LR) tests and the application the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) -BRAZIL, QuickDASH questionnaires, which is the short version of the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) and the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia(TSK) instrument and the sociodemographic questionnaire. The variables were analyzed using the Stata 15.1 program. For data analysis, Microsoft Excel and Stata were used, adopting a significance level of 5% (p <0.05). Then, adequacy to the normal curve was demonstrated, being compared using Student's t test and ANOVA. Results: 42 individuals were evaluated, most of them women (85.71%), with an average age of 48 (± 15) years, brown, working in a paid way, married and with an average level of pain of 5,73 (± 2.99).The Left Lateral Reach was on average 16.35 (± 5.55); o Law 17.79 (± 5.01); and Functional Reach26.38 (± 10.88), the Tampa Scaleregistered an average of 46.35 (± 7.63), the functional impact revealed by the LESF where the average was 40.54 (± 21.18) the QuickDASH had an average of 30.80 (± 10.22).Conclusion: The present study showed that functional impact in people affected in the chronic phase of CHIK are compromised. |
