Resumo: |
There is no doubt that Brazil is among the countries with the worst indicators of income in the world. Moreover, a large portion of the Brazilian population is unable to meet their basic needs, and this tends to contribute to that Brazil remains among the most unequal economies in the world. However, the internationally renowned Brazilian inequality inertial, which was more or less stagnant in the period 1970 to 2000, thus justifying the title, began to show signs of decline since the beginning of this decade. This dissertation will seek to report and discuss the recent reduction that indicators of income inequality are presented in this decade, and its main determinants. Among the factors that contributed to hasten the fall of inequality in Brazil in this decade we highlight the government transfers, which accounted for about onethird reduction in inequality, the minimum wage which had an important role in reducing income inequality work and public spending. |
