This work studies the insertion and permanence in the work force of those who have completed the course of Technology in Tourism Management at the Institute of Education Science and Technology. It has as its specific objectives: to indentify the factors that contribute to the performance register of those in the work force; to verify with the business companies the principle difficulties discovered by not contracting professionally qualified people and to discover among the professionals working with the firm or company what exactly they are doing in the area of tourism. The study developes an analysis of the socio-political and economic factors found in the composition of the referred course at its criation. The work also analyses the educational legislation that orientates Professional Thecnological Education, and especially the national politics involved in Tourism. It also traces the history of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology from its beginning as well as the course which is the object of this research. The research of a quantitative qualititave nature was carried out by a case study using a questionnaire given to those who had completed the course as well as semi-structured interviews carried out with teachers of the course and entrepreneurs in the field of Tourism. The results were presented and analyzed to confirm or refute the hypothesis presented in the study. The conclusion showed that public policies in every instance, sector or area depend on many variables, including economic, political and in this case the professional formation. |
