In the competitive industrial environment, the personnel in charge of the operation and manufacturing processes are strongly requested to do more with less, and the pressure is constant to increase productivity and to cut costs. The electric disturbances cause economical losses being responsible for inconceivable and undesirable halts in the production. The present work proposes a method for the estimation of the production loss related to outages taking into account the frequency of occurrence of the phenomena, its duration and the number of production lines affected by the disturbances. The method is of low implementation cost with the acquisition of data accomplished by questionnaire which presents sceneries with a set of feasible electric disturbances to the industry, which may occur in a specific time, with certain duration, with and without previous notification for the dealership. The cost of the power quality variations on the industry production is estimated through a computer tool developed in Visual Basic® and Excel®. Besides the individual cost for each industry, the developed tool allows the comparison of the impact of the power quality variation among companies, allowing evaluating the terms of the cost of larger impact and the industry sectors of larger sensitivity. The electric disturbances can have significant economical consequences for many different types of businesses, to know the dimension of the problem is the first step to solve it in an appropriate way. |
