Resumo: The high competitiveness among companies added the need for technological innovation and expanding the international market makes the search for knowledge in this area is increasingly continuum between Brazilian business. This study combines these two current issues: innovation and internationalization, based on a case study in Exporting Industrial Extension Project (Peiex). Objective is, in this research, analyze the performance of the methodology of PEIEX, based on their contribution to innovation and internationalization in 180 (one hundred eighty) cearenses companies in the manufacturing segment. Through a methodology of quantitative research based on secondary data, profiles of these companies were identified and statistically analyzed the relationship between innovation aspects of the assessment instrument Peiex with international sales. Seeking to contribute to expanding the understanding of the relationship between these two contemporary phenomena, the results show evidence that innovation is an important factor to be considered as a competitive advantage by companies surveyed having significant role in the internationalization process of companies. Nevertheless, it was found that the lack of information on tax incentives and funding for innovation election is still impediment to the development of innovation projects. The study suggests Peiex to implement joint actions or establish partnerships with institutions to support innovation, so that the assisted entrepreneurs can gain knowledge about the different actions of these institutions and thereby promote economic development and the export culture with these companies.
