This research aimed to guide the elaboration of a tourism zoning, with the purpose of the spatial distribution of the tourism potential of the study area. In order to recognize and understand the reality of local situation, to subsequently propose a set of focused strategies for the development of tourism in municipality, based on the principles of sustainable geotourism, as well as suggestions directed the organization of local infrastructure. Yet have been selected as objective, the realization of analysis of the landscape geoecology, integrating and relating the geo-environmental components, construction of an integrated diagnosis, through a thematic map showing the tourism potential and presenting a management plan for a sustainable geotourism , based on a tourism zoning. The research was based on the theoretical and methodological principles of landscape geoecology. The area selected for the development of the study was the city of Quixadá, located in Ceará Central Wilderness, lying about 158 km from Fortaleza, the city of Fortaleza and presenting significant potential for the development of geotourism practices. Relevant concepts will be used during this study, such as environmental planning, tourism, geotourism, zoning. The study has a sustainable perspective view, since it considered the importance in establishing a less impactful relationship between tourism activities and the environment. Tourism cause significant influence on the economic, environmental and social spheres, generating impacts, so it is configured as an activity that necessary a contextualized planning with local realities.
