This study aims analyze the efficiency of public spending on health in the State of Ceará in 2006 in relation to other Brazilian States and the Federal District. For this purpose, the main health indicators recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), shaded by using the tool, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with constant returns to scale oriented inputs. The results, after application of thirteen models, showed that spending more does not necessarily lead a system to obtain maximum efficiency. Also showed Ceará reaching the efficient frontier in three models, indicating that the state has a long way to go in search of efficiency. |
