Resumo: The public administration, in formal and material sense, it is destined to execute its activities for the common good of the collective. Nowadays, as much the direct administrations as the indirect administrations are in the exercise of its functions with much difficulty, therefore, the resources continue scarce while that the social demand and the complexity of the actions to be carried through remain in an increasing constant. However, the public managers need to take decisions that affect the future of the entity and of the population in which it is responsible, without perceiving, to the times, the consequences and risks that they are displaying the society and itself. Therefore, for the public administration to become more efficient in its decisions its administrators must to make use of safe, objective and fast information. This work characterized as a descriptive research, using as method the case study, it analyzes and it evaluates the Management System Information (MSI) as a support to the decision processes of the “Instituto de Previdência de Fortaleza (IPM)”. The result showed that, in part, the SIG fulfills the paper of assisting the controlling in its functions, and that its bigger difficulties are concentrated in the aspects related with the integration of the information, therefore in the vision of the managers it is difficult to find corporative or departmental information.
