Resumo: This master’s dissertation is a reflection on the memory and spaces of the quilombola community of Serra do Evaristo, located in Baturité (Ceará, Brazil), based on the study of multiple oral narratives in the locality. Guided by the fieldwork, I develop an anthropological study that privileges the voices of the residents of the community in question, as well as their cosmologies. I problematize the relationship of oral narratives classified as “fantastic” in the construction of spaces and collective memory, as well as in the inference of a link with quilombola identity. From this material, I present a series of elements that point to this relationship, which is present throughout the text. About some studied spaces, I experiment with certain possibilities of symbolic resignification that some of its specific elements place - as between the narrative: The hose of fact and the scenario spaces of this story. I also stress that some fantastic elements are essential to understand some pre- and post-archaeological excavation relations, which began in the Serra do Evaristo in 2012. This advent has transformed the community and, in addition, some of the archaeological finds found are associated by the residents of the region remnant of quilombo to supernatural beings existing in the local imagination.
