Resumo: |
The objective of this research was to evaluate the resistance of advanced strains of Vinga unguiculata (L.) Walp., semiprostrated and semierect, by means of preference tests and demographic parameters against black aphid attack, as well as to estimate the demographic parameters of Aphis craccivora Koch (Hemíptera: Aphididae) in cultivars of cowpea (V. unguiculata) recommended for mechanical harvesting in Brazil. The research was carried out in a greenhouse. In the preference essay, the statistical design used was the completely randomized blocks design, with six replicates. Thirty-one advanced strains of cowpea were divided into two trials according to their growing habit, plus four standard genotypes, with known resistance susceptibility, for comparison purposes, and six cultivars of cowpea recommended for harvesting Mechanized. In the first essay were carried out the resistance tests, composed of 16 lines of semiprostrated, plus the standards. While in the second assay, we worked with 15 semierect strains, and the standards. To assess resistance, the following variables were used: number of live adults and number of live nymphs. With the preliminary results of preference, the two materials with the highest degree of resistance and susceptibility of both tests, plus VITA 7 material and a commercial cultivar, totaling 6 treatments in each experiment, were selected to compose the demographic parameters essay, as well As the cultivars recommended for the mechanized harvest, plus the VITA 7 material, totaling three experiments, plus the VITA 7 material, totaling three experiments. With the daily number of offspring and survival in each age group, the fertility life tables were elaborated, and from these the demographic parameters of the black aphid were estimated using the Jackknife method. The semiprostrated strain MNCO4-792F-123 and semierect strains MNCO4-762F-03 and MNCO4-762F-09 were classified as resistant. The values of the intrinsic growth rate (rm) and the finite growth rate (λ) for the black-aphid were lower when reared on the semiprostrated MNCO4-792F-123 and MNCO4-792F-129 strains and the semierect MNCO4-762F-09 and MNCO4-762F-03 strains as on the cultivar BRS Guariba. It is concluded that MNCO4-792F-123 and MNCO4-792F-129 semiprostated strains, plus semierect strains MNCO4-762F-09 and MNCO4-762F-03 and BRS Guariba cultivar are resistant to black aphid, and least favorable for development and reproduction of this species, presenting as defense mechanism, antibiosis resistance. |
