Resumo: The sentinel lymph node has become quite well established in tumors such as breast and melanoma. In gastric cancer, however, there are few studies proving its effectiveness. This study evaluated the research of sentinel lymph nodes by gastric endoscopy in animal models. This work was performed at the Laboratory of Experimental Surgery Pr. Saul Goldenberg radioguided surgery / sentinel lymph node linked to the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Ceará. Provided by the Center for Zoonosis Control of 15 mongrel dogs of the species Canis familiaris, females, weighing approximately 11kg and aged 12 to 24 months (teeth , breasts , down, genitalia , parity established by clinical criteria) were selected Fortaleza ( CCZ ). First the dogs underwent general anesthesia by a veterinary anesthesiologist. Then the endoscopy was performed in animals. Featuring a gun endoscopic catheter proceeded infusion of blue dye and technetium in the submucosal layer of the gastric antrum of dogs. Subsequently, the surgical procedure was performed by laparotomy animal and sentinel lymph node. Labeling with patent blue was evaluated visually by bluish discoloration of the lymph node. The labeling with technetium was assessed by uptake of radioactivity in the lymph node by Gamma -Probe apparatus. We had 02 groups of lymph nodes detected: the sentinel lymph nodes of the lesser curvature of the gastric antrum and pyloric SN infrastructure. No statistical difference between the technetium and patent blue in the detection of sentinel lymph nodes of the lesser curvature and pyloric infrastructure was observed. In the analysis of sentinel lymph nodes of 2 groups "in vivo " (detection of lymph nodes in animals ) and " ex vivo " (after excision of the lymph node of animal) taken separately with the two markers ( blue dye and technetium ) was found statistically significant ( p ≤ 0.05 ) and a coefficient of satisfactory Kappa inferring an excellent agreement . We conclude that the method of detection of the sentinel lymph node in dog stomach by endoscopy through the blue dye and technetium is highly feasible and has a high degree of accuracy.
