The assistencial patern in vigour in an Intensive Care Unit, has not always contemplated the ntirsing’s knowing and doing in a humanistic connotation. The cultural surroundings of those who care and those who are being cared are considered fundamental, part of the cultural inheritance, are passed among the family members and to the society. This study is centered on the importance of mainteainíno a cultural nursina assistance towards the being and doing encounter. I ho aim is to compreneria in© cuituícti context vi curiny to laennry cmturai ruvtvrv and influences, which are involved in the nurses’ being and doing and to characterize the assistance given to the patients considering the nurses’ beliefs and values. It is a descriptive research with qualitative approach, centered in the cultural context of the nursing care. The data was colected through semi-structured interviews with seven (7) duty nurses of the Adult Intensive Care Unit in a mager District-Public Hospital in Fortaleza - Ceara which is especialized in trauma care. It used discourse analisis having considered the evidence based on the data and theoretical inferences along side the narative description. The discourse were denominated as follow: N°1 (AGATHA): Nursing care influenced by values, education, moral and beliefs; N°2 (MARINE WATER): culture as a determined factor of the nurses’ humanized profile; N°3 (AMETHYST): Culture as an influence in the comunicatio.n with patients, their families and the nursing crew; N°4 (EMERALD): Culture, economic factors and desire for the modernization of the profession as an influence to the nurses’ levei of satisfaction; N°5 (GRENADE): Culture as a direct factor in the professional’s technical-cientific improvement for caring; N° 6 (OPAL): Culture, family and chilhood experiences as factors that are an influence to the solidarity and to the professional doing and knowing; N°7 (TOURMALINE): Cultural experíence determines conflicts and professional commitment. The results showed that the nursing care is focused not only on technical competence but also in interaction, in coprehension and in the individuais’ perceptions as a whole. Indeed, professional roll is influenced by context, way of life and values. Thus, the nurses’ speech reflect upon cultural aspects in the nursing being and doing. |
