Resumo: In the presentation there has been an attempt to investigate the highlight work/education in the teaching practice of the teachers at the secondary levei of the public school system, using as a basic the study of a case in function at the State Techical School João Mendes Olímpio de Meio, and the State School Zacarias de Góis; both of these schools belong to the public school system at the secondary levei in the State of Piauí. For a theoretical analysis of this report, it became necessary to follow the historical sequence of the working society with the intention of becoming aware of the necessary theoretical principies needed in the development of this processo In order to compare the theoretical principies with the actual context of the Brazilian Society and the pedagogical practice of the teachers at the secondary levei of the public school system, as a point of reference in the unfolding of an educative process which establishes connections between work and education, consideration is given to a unique and democratic secondary levei school, which places work as the center of the project for the formation of the person, by means of the development of his potencialities in order to acquire a technical, cientific and contemporary knowledge. These considerations made in educational surroundings, do not hand over to the secondary levei teachers of the public school system the responsability of changing the face of the school in view of the present conditions of Brazilian Society, but defend the idea that a teaching practice can set into motion the real movement of transformation capable of contributing to the improvement of the horrible living conditions of the Brazilian people.
