Resumo: |
Assembly rules allows to investigate the patterns of ecological communities structuring. These patterns can be generated by biotic and abiotic processes. We analyzed the community structure of aquatic plants in a coastal wetland in northeastern Brazil, in order to identify the rules of assembly that formed this community. A total of 36 species were found. The aquatic plant community was formed by assembly rules based on competition, causing a pattern of dominance of a few species of emergent growth forms (Eleocharis equisetoides), submerged free-swimming (Utricularia foliosa) and floating (Nymphoides indica). The first two axes of CCA explained 81.91% of the variation in species distribution. However this variation is related to the characteristics of each species, and does not respond to their distribution in relation to dominance in the environment. Thus, the assembly rules of aquatic plants are not based on the abiotic factors analyzed in this study. |
