The present thesis has the proposal of contributing to the urban-border spatial understanding of Oiapoque, which is located in the extreme north of the state of Amapá, which presents an urban reality in the midst of Amazonian life, in its multiple analytical nuances. It is considered that the border location of the municipality and the city of Oiapoque - AP, causes, in the production of space, perceptible reflections in the urban spatiality, in different dimensions, such as: social, economic and cultural, and that, in this way, different flows and networks are established in and by the city. These territorial-reticular articulations, give importance to the urban process of Oiapoque, which even without having some physical-structural attributes, such as an infrastructure of public facilities, a small population if compared to the Brazilian urban realities, presents, thus, some relevance regarding the role that the city plays in the Franco-Brazilian border context. Thus, the overall goal of the research is to understand the role that the border plays in the city of Oiapoque, highlighting its importance in the Amapaense and Franco-Brazilian border context and affirming, in turn, the centrality of the frontier in the socio-spatial relations territorially established in Oiapoque, mainly in the production of urban space. As methodological resources, we highlight the realization of a theoretical reference based on the discussions about the twin-cities border, the urban question in the Amazon, the territory-network, besides the French-Brazilian border theme, elucidated with the realization of observations in loco, through field research, with interviews and consultations, to obtain data, with different social actors, among them representatives of the municipal government, higher and technical education institutions of the city, and also with the organized civil society, besides records and photographic documentation of the area under study. It is hoped that this research provides reflections on the urban-border spatiality of Oiapoque and its territorial-reticular articulation in different scales: local and regional, demonstrating the absence of investments for this important part of the Brazilian territory, since it represents a border that indicates rich vivacity and diversity in the Brazilian Amazonian urban. |
