Objectives: to Analyze the use of the nursing process in hospitals in Fortaleza-CE. Methodological description: descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative Study. Attended the 47 directors of nursing research hospitals and 89 coordinators of units. Data collection took place in April to August 2012. The data were analyzed descriptively. Project approved by Coética (190/11 Protocol). Results: the majority (53%) of the institutions has the nursing process deployed, and in 60% of the institutions, it is deployed for less than five years. The most commonly used standard taxonomies were: NANDA (82.4%), NIC (17.5%) and NOC (3.5%). As positive factors for the implementation of the process have been: interest on the part of nurses, nursing Manager availability, presence of incentives by nursing managers and support of the institution. Conclusion: it is concluded that hospitals in Fortaleza are evolving as the deployment and implementation of the nursing process.
