Resumo: The aim of this study is to analyze the determinants of demand for plans with dental coverage - medical plans with dental coverage in Brazil. The database used is the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra Domiciliar (PNAD) of 2008, mainly the information of additional notebook health. The demand for health services and the impossibility of covering this demand through only the public network resulted in the strengthening of the health insurance in Brazil. To analyze the demand plan for dental plans, estimated a logistic model, since the dependent variable is dummy resulting from the option of whether or dental plan. The sample was restricted to individuals in the last dental care was not covered by health insurance. The main results of the demand analysis showed an expected behavior. The explanatory variable income was significant and showed that the increase in income is in favor of option of having a dental health plan. The same behavior was variable in education the option to join a plan accompanied the increase in the level of schooling. In contrast, age was significant only in the range of older people and proved to be unfavorable to the acquisition of a dental health plan. In addition to these, the explanatory variables related to chronic diseases, urban location of the municipality, the last dental care characteristics, self-rated health and macro-region also presented with statistical significance for the model.
