Child development has been the focus of attention and the importance of caring for the child from the earliest stages is understood. The family is the first context the baby experiences. Family conditions, assistance received by education and health services are considered to reflect on child development. The nursery is the environment in which children are inserted in early childhood. The objectives were to analyze the growth and child development. Nursery of Fortaleza-Ceará; and associate growth and development with the child's family context. It was a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative research. Held with children aged 12-36 months, in a free day care center, from April to June / 2019, the instrument used was the mirror form of the Child Health Handbook, the Genogram and the family Apgar. As a result, it was found that the growth and development of the children were adequate for age, the most found family structure were the traditional and extended nuclear type and most families had good functionality. We found an association between weight and family structure, where the highest prevalence of high weight was among those children from nuclear families. It was concluded the growth and development of children in public day care were adequate and the relationship found was between growth and family structure. |
