Resumo: The rise of environmental degradation from an irresponsible culture of production and consumption, as well as the violation of human rights, are planetary problems that have consequences for humanity and hinder democracy. As an alternative to this expansion, a non-extendable regeneration movement supported by planetary awareness proposes a reflection on the possibilities for sustainability and for the consolidation of democracy. This movement foresees the development of Planetary Citizenship, which results from the action of planetary citizens of the 21st century in favor of the composition of democratic, dialogical, cooperative, just, peaceful and sustainable societies, as well as the perception of the Earth as a fundamental habitat for life. Moreover, it is essential to emphasize that these same planetary citizens are formed under the confluence of digital universes, immersed in globally connected societies and marked by the digital trends embodied by Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT). Thus, identifying the emergence of the formation of planetary citizens and the pedagogical potential pertinent to ICTs, we conducted an exploratory research of qualitative approach. Its general objective was to investigate the formation of the planetary citizen through the pedagogical use of DICT in an Educational Computing Laboratory (ECL) of a Municipal Elementary School located in Maracanaú, Ceará, and its specific objectives sought to understand , through the analysis of the informatization path of the municipal public schools of Maracanaú, the promotion of the pedagogical use of ICT in the school space of the municipality; examine the promotion of Planetary Citizenship by analyzing the pedagogical practices developed in an ECL; and analyze, from student discourses, the relationship that can be established between the pedagogical use of ICTs and the formation of the planetary citizen. Based on a case study of an ECL with a time frame (2015 - 2019), the research was guided by a semi-structured interview with elementary school students, the application of a questionnaire with the Computing teacher, document analysis and observations in the field. In order to accompany the analysis of the data, we constituted integrating-ideas, which, based on theoretical framework relevant to the theme, outlined principles, attitudes and knowledge relevant to the development of Planetary Citizenship. The research was mainly based on Paulo Freire to support the analysis of pedagogical practices and to make curricular considerations; on Edgar Morin, Leonardo Boff, Moacir Gadotti, Francisco Gutiérrez and Cruz Prado to support the unveiling of Planetary Citizenship; and on Pierre Lévy, Vani Kenski and Manuel Castells to guide the exhibitions on DICT. The research highlighted the importance of Computing for the teaching and learning process and for human development, and pointed out that this pedagogical use of ICTs was encouraged by the engaged and innovative performance of the Computing teacher, by the school documents (Maracanaú Curriculum Base and pedagogical project) and the teacher training provided by the Maracanaú Educational Technology Center. It also pointed to the relevance of flexible and innovative curricula, as well as to meaningful, democratic pedagogical practices, contextualized to the digital culture, for the formation of the planetary citizen.
