The PAA is part of the structuring actions of the Federal Government's Zero Hunger Program and has the following objectives: to guarantee access to food in quantity, quality and regularity for food insecure and nutritional populations, to contribute to the formation of strategic stocks and to promote social inclusion in the countryside through the strengthening of family farming, providing opportunities for market access, structuring of business relationships, and income generation. The present study has as general objective to analyze if the PAA contributes to the sustainability of family farmers in the Cocais Territory, in the State of Piauí, through: i) a description of the socioeconomic profile of the beneficiary family farmers, not beneficiaries of the PAA; ii) the measurement of the agricultural sustainability index of family farmers; iii) To identify and estimate the influence of the socioeconomic characteristics of family farmers on the inclusion of the PAA, in the Cocais Territory, in the State of Piauí; iv) E Analyze the impacts of the EAP on the economic, environmental and social sustainability of family farmers. The methodological procedures adopted to analyze the main socioeconomic determinants of the beneficiary family farmers was a model of logistic regression. The Propensity Score Matching (PSM) procedure was used to evaluate the impacts of the program on its beneficiaries. The data used are of primary origin, obtained through the application of 44 semi-structured questionnaires for beneficiaries and 56 for nonbeneficiaries of the Program, totaling 100 questionnaires in the municipalities of Esperantina, Batalha, Barras and São João do Arraial, located in Cocais Territory state of Piauí. The results of the research show that the Property Management Index (PGI) of the beneficiaries of the Program, representative of agricultural sustainability in its three dimensions: environmental, economic and social, is higher than the PGI of non-beneficiaries. The variables that most influenced the inclusion of non-beneficiaries in the Program are: civil status, type of construction, type of coverage, number of rooms, access to government programs, election of officers, unions, use of fires and use of grid. Thus, through the ATT values, it was evidenced that the PAA had positive impacts on livestock revenue, the economic index, social index, environmental index and the Property Management index. |
