Resumo: The technology for reducing the diameter of particles is a differential in the composition of sunscreens and in several segments, such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, due to the emergence of new techniques and product improvement. One of the main particles used in the formulation of these protectors is titanium dioxide (TiO2). The use of microparticles in inorganic sunscreens allows greater adhesion to the skin, better viscosity and texture of the product. There is a range of studies on the penetration and toxicity of these compounds in humans, however it is necessary to expand the study spectrum to include other groups of living beings and the environment, because this series of issues does not end in man. Other perspectives must be observed, such as the incorporation of these particles by other biological systems and their effects on the organism. The objective of this work is to evaluate the effects and phytotoxicity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in plants of Lactuca sativa L. (lettuce) by means of laboratory tests of germination and growth with exposure to titanium dioxide and analysis of the results using microscopy techniques: Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy
