The socio-cultural aspect of have the great influence of the food process, especially or that permeated construction beliefs, myths and tabus. the food habits are established, molded and whose implications imply adult life. Objective: This study has as its objective to understand “ if and how” the beliefs, myths and food taboos influencing practices of nutrition and nutrition of children with overweight and obesity. Methods: A qualitative approach was carried out, with 12 months more attended by the Early Childhood Institute (IPREDE), Fortaleza, CE, applying the interview techniques, and 05 authorizations for systematic observation. The built data analyzed by hermeneutics culminating in three different categories: 1) Hot / cold; strong / weak; laughing / unloaded; weak breast / breast that saves life: a duality of two elements and its influence on food; 2) It is as the experiences of infantile maternal feeding imply the feeding of their children; 3) Body e Obesity, its meanings and meanings for the most. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Ceará with the Opinion of Approval No. 2,820,386 / 18. Results: We note that food categories related to laughing, "weak" foods and “hot", described not topical, add influence or consumption feed sun-mother, including the restriction of important foods or consumption. These categories are transgenerational, relating to maternal life experiences. We note that the maternal experiences related to promotion and farture, to strategies to stimulate or consume food influence their supply and not excessive care as children. As maternal perceptions about overweight and childhood obesity we are associated with beauty, health, social welfare, favorable financial conditions and food abundance, having duality among these positive aspects, which are historical processes and cultural, reinforcing the conditions of related comorbidities overweight and obesity. I fear that the feeding and behavior of obese children is built by social, historical and economic elements, being directly influenced by beliefs, myths and taboos that drive to the restriction of some foods and superstition other than, in a certain way, potentialization or overweight and childhood obesity to consider or model strong.
