Resumo: |
With the intensive use of technologies, in particular, digital information and communication technologies (TDIC's), Information Science is an interdisciplinary area that encompasses several sciences, including Library Science, which since its existence promotes the collection, organization , dissemination and use of information. The university library is immersed in this context of great informational volume and needs to use efficiently new technologies such as, for example, the DSpace for the creation and implementation of the Institutional Repository, an online database that brings together, in an organized manner, the scientific production of a academic and scientific institution. Digital repositories are databases developed to gather, organize and make the scientific production of researchers more accessible and provide the maximization of access to scientific information, aiming to contribute to the production of knowledge. This research aims to "analyze the usability of the Institutional Repository of UNILAB, from the perspective of undergraduate students of the institution". The specific objectives are: “to analyze - in the light of the theory studied about the structure and functioning of the repositories - its possibilities of interface with users; “Analyze the Institutional Repository of UNILAB, with a view to assessing the degree of knowledge of it by the students / users of the university; analyze - based on the theory of searching and retrieving information in repositories - how users evaluate the repository; assess the librarian's mediation with students in the use of the repository during the workshop; analyze the intervention during the workshop, with a view to assessing the students' prior knowledge of the repository. Of a qualitative nature, a pre-test and a questionnaire were applied to answer part of UNILAB's objectives and quantitative data (Repository statistics), to meet criteria of this nature. The scientific method of this exploratory study used was Functionalism, supported by an intervention to undergraduate students, through a workshop, where it was possible to perceive the usability of the Institutional Repository and its forms of use. |
