Resumo: Through a theoretical and bibliographical research method, this study aims to establish a dialogue between the novels Fazes-me falta and Verão no aquário, by Inês Pedrosa and Lygia Fagundes Telles, respectively, under the funereal perspective, which is based on issues that encompass the language of literary writing. The research stems from the principle that literature, undoubtedly, deals with multiple themes and social aspects, but in a parallel way, it also deals with itself. It is therefore necessary to understand what lies in the unsaid things of words, which says a lot about the very nature of the language in which it is woven, and it is through the intricacies of this construction that this analysis intends to go. In order to better organize the study of the novels, four analytical categories considered relevant to the search of our investigative object were listed: 1) the concept of death; 2) fusion of love and death; 3) the experience of the bereaved; and 4) language. The study is particularly based on the theoretical framework of Michel Foucault (2000, 2002, 2009, 2014), Roland Barthes (1987, 1997, 2004), Maurice Blanchot (1987, 2011, 2013), and Martin Heidegger (2003, 2005, 2012), who contribute to a more general panorama of literature as well as the literature from the perspective of death. In light of these contributions, this study also brings the perspectives of researchers such as Diana Navas e Telma Ventura (2017), Angela Laguardia (2007), Sônia Régis (1998), Suênio Lucena (2002) and Carlos Magno Gomes (2017). Based on the study carried out, it was concluded that death and language are closely related because, like literature, death is a narrative.
