This dissertation have as subject the identity of the jewish people that emigrates to the city of Fortaleza in Ceará between the years of 1993 and 2003, and create the Israelitish Society of Ceará (SIC). This essay analises the foundation of this institution, trying to show the mecanisms that these people uses to legitimize a jewish tradition and identity at the city of Fortaleza, supposed, without that kind of culture. The identity of these people and their traditions are coincived by a notion of a group that is represented by religiously practicism and orientation. But these representations are not always unanimous. They do not agree one with the other in the diferent questions and situations: when they think about ''being jew" and "what kind of attitude have a jew?", showing, so, that the identity is not a static process, but a dinamic and circunstantial phenomenom. The purpose ofthis work is to analise the begining of a jewish identity and tradition at the city of Fortaleza. |
