Resumo: Faced with the difficulties faced by students with the mathematics subject and also the difficulties faced by teachers in keeping students' attention in the classroom in order to facilitate the understanding of mathematical content, games are a learning resource used since the early grades with children to Youth and Adult Education. The present work addresses the importance of games in teaching mathematics for young people and adults and the theme was chosen due to the need to diversify the study of mathematics and minimize the difficulties faced by students, in addition to its relevance, since games are a reality in most schools. The general objective was to highlight the importance of using didactic resources such as games in teaching mathematics. You specific objectives were: to describe historical aspects of the use of games in teaching, to list games used in mathematics teaching, to list the benefits of using games in Youth and Adult Education. It is a bibliographical research, initially pure basic, evolving to descriptive and that uses existing data in research platforms. It concluded that Youth and Adult Education, in order to have the interest and participation of the target audience, needs to use didactic resources that make learning interesting and enjoyable, and that is what games do.
