Resumo: This dissertation aims to analyze the results of the Doctoral Program in Economics at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), known as the Center for the Improvement of Economists of the Northeast (CAEN), founded in 2000. For this purpose, the classes over these 20 years are analyzed. years, which is studied and produced in the Theses presented in the Program to analyze the intellectual production of the UFC Doctorate, as well as to analyze the profile of the students and the graduates of the Doctorate course. In other words, it can be said that this dissertation tends to answer the following research questions: a) what is the origin of the undergraduate and master's degrees of PhD students in Economics? b) Who participates in the doctoral boards? What are the PhD program graduates doing? As a result, it is clear that the Caen Doctorate Program contributes to the training of students, undergraduate and graduate, in other universities in the Northeast (Unifor, UFPB, UFRPE, UFRN, UFPI, UERN, UFMA, UFAL and in UFC, both in Fortaleza and Sobral), North (UFPA), South (UFSC) and Southeast (UFABC, Puc Minas). In addition, some graduates are in Research Institutes (IPECE), UFC management, municipal and state, and, finaly, in multilateral institutions such as the World Bank.
