Resumo: |
A brief reconsideration on the history of Brazilian cotton culture as well as its present highlights both on international and domestic scenarios points it to one of our main agribusiness export commodity. The aim of this master degree dissertation has been the study of the influence of the liberalization of economy and macroeconomic policies on the Brazilian cotton exportations from 1970 to 2003. It has also been developed a regression econometric model to verifying how positively and negatively some variants such as national income, exchange rate floating and pricing policy reflected the aforementioned exportations. A critical analysis on the results from the developed model based on economic literature allows a discussion about the needs of updating the national cotton production in the light of competitiveness as a way of reinserting Brazil as a big player, contributing with job offers and positive trade balance as well. |
