Resumo:	This work presents the introduction of reflections on public policies that have as their theme the promotion of urban afforestation in the country. To this end, we evaluated qualitative and quantitative data collected from 179 of the 326 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, covering approximately 41% of the entire national population. The data found corroborates the analysis of the specific case of the Fortaleza Urban Afforestation Manual (Fortaleza, 2020), identifying in its provisions its compatibility and application to the theoretical principles explored, which include Urban Ecosystems, Urban Sustainability, Green Infrastructure and Nature based Solution.
