This paper aims to verify the impacts of the workforce of micro and small companies on the GDP per capita of Brazilian municipalities, vis-à-vis the impact of the workforce allocated to larger firms. It considers the effects of labor allocated in different sized firms and a version in which each work measure is further separated by commercial, industrial and services sectors. A panel data model with fixed effects with a database comprising the years between 2013 and 2015 was used. The results indicate considerably greater positive effects of labor in micro and small companies compared to medium and large firms. When analyzing the impact by sectors, the labor force in micro and small companies in the commercial sector had a greater effect on the product per capita among firms of all sectors and sizes. The results proved to be robust to the alternative models considered. |
