Padrões de fotointerpretação do uso do solo no município de Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brasil.

The present study was carried out on an area of aproximately 120 Km2 located at the Limoeiro do Norte country region of Ceará State, Brazil. Aerial black and white photographs of the cited area, at scale of 1:32.500, were used to obtein informations on vegetation, drainage network and soil use. Using the information above, thematic maps were generated. The photointerpretation was proceeded by using the photografic patterns as described by Valério Filho (1981). Due to the singular characteristcs of the area, it was necessary to use complementary informations. The study was conducted by choosing ten spots in the area where the photointerpretation was considered unclear. Trips to the field were conducted in order to investigate the marked area spots in situ. Comparing field observations with the photointerpretation data, it was possible to construct basic complementary informations which allowed an expansion of the existing photografic patterns. The photointerpretation data as associated to the Geographic Information System (GIS) led to the constructions of area thematic maps of drainage network, pedological units and soil use class. The above maps were subjected to a computational analysis which resulted into a quantitative study of both soil classes and use.
