Resumo: This work aims to analyze how the main characters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, by the British writer J. K. Rowling, are constructed from literary to film narrative through studies of narratology, intersemiotic translation and character construction. The analysis was made about the construction throughout the film, describing similarities and divergences and the existing additions in the actions that these characters are inserted. For this purpose, the theoretical basis of this research will go through the studies of Lins (2011), on narrative coherence and the creative elements to materialize the character; Gomes (2016), dealing with the visual nature of cinema; Gardies (2008), explaining about the beings of language in the narrative; and Brait (2010), about character representation on screen. We also explore the main theorists of intersemiotic translation in interface with the construction of the character. It is a qualitative and bibliographic research in which analyses will be made based on the theoretical framework. With this research, we were able to conclude that the construction of the character in the film does not differ from the literary work, but that the film narrative of the book makes cutouts judged important by the director and /or screenwriter. On the other hand, in the literary work there is a greater exploration of the actions and physical and psychological characteristics because it is a verbal language, while in the film, these elements are converted semiotic aspects involved, resulting from the choices of those who produce it, as well as the author of the book, since she was part of the direction of the film.
