Resumo: This study is meant to analyze the process of developing interdisciplinary understanding in teacher education courses. It focused on the observation of interdisciplinary relations woven by students in the discipline of Didactics I in thematic workshops, an activity that was chosen due to its intersubjective character. Our intention in observing the workshops was to identify which rationality emerges from such events, whether it is more inclusive and responsive, consistent with the paradigm of interdisciplinarity, or more instrumental-strategic, in accordance with a fragmented vision of knowledge. The study is justified by the need to develop a teacher pedagogical practice that embraces the complex demands of the networked society of information, which will require a professional attitude and interdisciplinary dialogue. Our initial hypothesis is that the activities experienced institutionally by future teachers in their initial training may constitute an important area of convergence between different disciplines, fostering socio-cultural, textual and meaningful dialogue, imbued with different points of view and, therefore, propitiating an interdisciplinary thinking. The research is anchored in the qualitative approach and ethnographic perspective. We observed a group of students of Didactics from March to April 2010. For data collection we took field notes on the group‟s dialogues and recorded semi-structured individual interviews. Data analysis showed that, despite the interdisciplinary perspective having a good acceptance at the theoretical level, students still have some difficulty in understanding how this approach can be applied in educational practice. However, the group was able to recognize that the development of different human intelligences provides a profile that is more in accordance with an interdisciplinary approach. It was evidenced by the group that the knowledge derived their personal trajectories are elements which bring an interdisciplinary understanding of the world. It became evident that, in the intersubjective discussions where students were involved the stronger argument wins, but not in the sense of dominating the other argumentative claims, but in the sense of guiding the praxis from the proposition that seemed more meaningful to all. The observation of this process allows us to say that throughout its development there was not only a final consensus, but rather a series of agreements that were established intersubjectively without which the proposal would not be possibly developed. Without these agreements, it would not be possible for the group to enter a synergy that culminated in a joint production, characterized by the contribution of different outlooks.
