The Environmental Protection Area of Pacoti river is a sustainable use conservation unit. One of the main objectives of its creation is to allow the use of natural resources, ensuring their maintenance in the long run in regular conditions, minimizing, thus, the negative responses of the anthropic action. Due to be an area of high instability, believed to be necessary for this area available to an economic, environmental and institutional planning and to be taken into account the social dimension. In this perspective it becomes absolutely necessary that human interventions are planned with clear objectives for land use planning, taking as its premise the potential of natural and human resources, on the one hand, and the fragility of the natural environment on the other. Techniques of Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing has been widely used for the purpose of mapping, planning and environmental monitoring. The communion of these tools enables the acquisition of environmental information both in the space and in time. The increase of the methodology of environmental indicators is also required to achieve the real objectives of this research, since these indicators is characterized by simplifying the information related to complex phenomena, trying to improve on that the communication process, whether quantitative or qualitative. The use of environmental indicators will also serve as potentiating agent in pursuit of sustainable development, promoting and facilitating the integration of environment into economic and social policies. The result sought by this research is the establishment of a detailed knowledge of all the dynamics inherent in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the lower course of the river Pacoti. The use of Geotechnology added the use of environmental indicators carefully selected from the integrated analysis of the physical environment of the study area data enable the creation of developers subsidies for better management and an efficient land use. |
