Resumo: |
The objective of this research was to analyze unsafe behaviors that lead to work accidents in a labor-intensive industry. To achieve this objective, a literature review was conducted to theoretically support the analyses and interpretations of empirical study results. The methodology involved qualitative and quantitative approaches to obtain accurate information about work accidents. 692 records of accidents from the occupational medicine and safety service (SESMT) were analyzed. These data allowed for identification of factors causing accidents and the relationship between these factors and unsafe behaviors. A Likert scale questionnaire was applied to 93 operational area employees as a diagnosis regarding the perception of unsafe behaviors, divided into factors, dimensions, and scales. Data were analyzed using the percentage of agreement or disagreement of respondents for each statement. Results identified the lack of training and qualification of employees as one of the main factors contributing to work accidents. They also highlighted the importance of greater risk perception by employees in accident prevention, as well as the need for new employee integration with a focus on safety, periodic safety training, recognition of safe behaviors, evaluation of manual activities, and wider coverage of the tool for refusing risky tasks. This study emphasizes the appreciation of safe behaviors and the identification and correction of unsafe behaviors to prevent accidents and ensure a healthy work environment. Organizations should invest in preventive actions and employee awareness to ensure the physical and mental integrity of workers and the success of the company. Measures such as training, risk perception, new employee integration, safety training, recognition of safe behaviors, and tools for refusing risky tasks are essential to ensure safety at work. The research reinforces the importance of everyone's commitment to preventing work accidents. |
