Resumo: The schoolchildren in a situation of illness, due to the length of stay, often interrupts their school attendance process, which can cause serious losses in terms of their educational training and inclusion. In this sense and, aiming at the propositional contribution to this demand, the present dissertation research aims to demonstrate the importance of hospital pedagogy as a field of knowledge and the need of the professional in this field, the hospital pedagogue, to work within the multidisciplinary health team. only as a doctor, psychologist or nurse, but as an educator and teacher that enables the teaching-learning processes in peculiar circumstances in which the student is inserted. In this way, it is understood that hospital pedagogy must be perceived as a field of epistemological knowledge integrated between education and health indispensable for the development of human people in the diverse and multiple circumstances in which the student, due to illness, whatever if so, have your school attendance process interrupted. Thus, in order to meet the problems and objectives listed in this research, the bibliographic technical method was used as a methodology with consultation with theoretical sources, legislation and various documents. As for the approach, we opted for qualitative research of the exploratory-descriptive type of content and as analysis techniques, we used the critical social historical discourse analysis. The conclusive partial results indicate that although it is a peculiar need to have hospital teaching professionals aiming that the student is not harmed in his teaching-learning process due to illness and hospital stay, there are still legal, didactic-pedagogical barriers and lack better political will to put this issue on the discussion agenda with greater serenity and brevity that are peculiar to it.
