Resumo: This research is about the life history and formation of the teaching habitus of the teachers of the Technical Course in Musical Instrument at IFPI Teresina Central Campus. It understands the life story as a narrative of oneself, allowing to explain the ways in which one experiences and conceives one's own formation and the relationships with people and with the spaces that made this construction possible. It is about narrating lived experiences. Habitus, on the other hand, refers to the experiences built up and incorporated throughout a person's life, making them who they are. These concepts are taken as a starting point, with the aim of getting to know the subjects' life trajectories and the constitution of their habitus, identifying knowledge, changes and permanence in teaching practice. The aim is to answer the following questions: How did we become music teachers? How did life trajectory influence the choice to become a teacher? How is the habitus of teaching music formed? Therefore, the general objective of this research was: to investigate, through life stories, the formation of the teaching habitus of the teachers of the Technical Course in Musical Instrument at IFPI Teresina Central campus. The specific objectives are: to demystify my own life story and training in order to speak with propriety about the training processes of the music teachers at the Teresina Central campus; to understand how the relationship between life story/training and Pierre Bourdieu's theory of practice contribute to explaining the formation of the teaching habitus; to identify and analyze, through the life stories and training, the constitution of the teaching habitus of the subjects interviewed. The academic work uses the qualitative method, with narrative research, having as theoretical support the approach of Life Stories in Formation (Histórias de Vida em Formação) - HIVIF, associated with Praxiology, guided by the approach of Life Stories based on: Josso (2004), Santos and Tuma (2008); Silva (2009 and 2016); and Oliveira (2016); and in the theories of Praxiology Bourdieu (1983, 1989, 2007), in order to understand the teaching narratives and how each subject became a music teacher. Data will be collected through life story narrative interviews using the following data collection instruments: field diary, video footage and/or audio recorder.
