Resumo: The aim of this paper is to assess the impact of child labor in the notes of the students, using for this purpose the data from INEP. It is estimated here classes of fifth and ninth years, dividing the classes in math and Portuguese. It then employs a model of impact assessment through a pairing propensity score, since there was a randomization among students in order to create a control group and treatment. Therefore, this methodology is based on the assumption that is observed all the factors that make the participant choose to receive treatment. As the treatment here is child labor, there is a profile of students who are compelled to work during their childhood, and as such can be seen in profile database used, the results obtained by this method are reliable. Thus, this work shows that there is an average of 15 points on the scale SAEB loss in performance of students who work for those who do not work. Furthermore, it shows that this treatment is more pernicious for the first year, as the average of the results is negative for the fifth year.
